MIKE MACDONALD

Lead Mechanic

Growing up in Glenville, anyone in the area knows Michael has always spent most of his time in the garage doing mechanics and starting hDM has been a life long dream. As a licensed, red seal mechanic, Michael has over 20 years’ experience in heavy duty mechanics. He spent 8 years working on the largest equipment in the world, where he gained invaluable knowledge and experience in off highway equipment. He also spent much of his apprenticeship, as well as the past 5 years, working with on highway equipment, farm equipment and marine. Michael splits his time between the shop and the service truck, you just never know where you'll see him!

HAILEY MACDONALD

Office/Customer Support

Hailey is our office support and dispatch. Originally from Truro she has lived in Cape Breton for 9 years and loves the area. She takes care of organizing the shop and the service trucks so we can provide the best customer service possible. Stop by the office and she will be happy to meet you!

ALEXANDER HAWLEY

Mechanics Apprentice

Alexander is from Blues Mills and is hDM's first employee. He as been with hDM since before our shop was finished. He started on the road and now splits his time between the shop and the service trucks. Alexander isn't afraid to take on any job or put in long hours. We all rely on him daily and we are lucky to have him aboard!

AD MACLEAN

Marine Expert

AD is a fisherman from Mabou. During the off season, you'll find him in our shop or on the road, helping us out with anything and everything. Ad is able to take on almost any job that comes through the door, when it comes to anything marine related, engines, transmissions, hydraulics or fibreglassing, AD is always our go to!

KIM MACKENZIE

Office Administrator

Kim is from Scotville and joined us part time in February 2022 and then full time after she graduated from NSCC for business administration. She's been a key part in keeping hDM running in the background since almost the beginning. Kim is always willing to lend a hand no matter what is happening each day and we would be lost with out her!

CAMILLE PATUREL

Red Seal Shop Mechanic

Camille is originally from Belle Cote and recently moved back to Cape Breton after being in Alberta for 14 years. During that time, he gained valuable experience working on a large variety of trucks and heavy equipment. He is experienced in diagnostics, electrical, DPF systems and so much more. Camille is ticketed in truck and transport, as well as automotive mechanics, making him able to take on any job that comes through the door! We rely on him to keep our shop running daily!

CONNOR MACLEAN

Service Truck Mechanic

Connor is from Mabou and one of the newest members of our team. He spends most of his time on the road and puts a lot of miles on in the run of a week. He is always up for a challenge and will never leave our customers hanging. He is knowledgeable in trucks, marine and heavy equipment and gets the job done every time! We are glad to have him doing mobile repairs for our customers.

RODNEY HAWLEY

Red Seal Welder

Rodney is our welder and is happiest when he's burning rods. He can take on almost any welding project and loves rebuilding buckets. He sometimes lends a spare set of hands in the mechanics shop or on the road when needed. He is a multitalented guy and always makes sure the shop is in good cheer! We are glad to have him on our team

COLE CAMPBELL

Mechanics Apprentice

Cole is a farmer from Mabou. He is with us on his off time from school where is working though his mechanics blocks. He started with us as a coop student in the spring of 2023 and continued with us through the summers and during breaks from school. Cole is gaining experience in truck and transport as well as all the other jobs that we take on. He is learning quickly and a great addition to our team.

DAVID MACLEAN

Business Advisor

Born and raised in East Lake Ainslie, David has successfully owned and operated businesses in the area since 1987. He is dedicated to expanding the economy in Cape Breton and works hard to support local. He understands how important creating relationships with customers is and looks forward to meeting other business owners in the area.
